Dear Sir or Madam:

I am very excited about the opportunity to teach ESL in Korea. When I received my TESOL Certificate through Seattle Pacific University, it confirmed that I love teaching English because it gives me an opportunity to work with students from many different cultures. I am currently working as an ESL Instructor teaching adult immigrants and refugees at Seattle Goodwill Job Training and Education Center. Since the class size varies from 5 to 25 students, I prepare a variety of ways to teach and engage all students, from working with them one-on-one, to small group activities, and whole class activities and discussions.

In the past I have assisted in teaching immigrants and refugees at the beginning level through Highline Community College and have taught as a Paraeducator of ESL to Korean students at Illahee Middle School in the Federal Way School District. These experiences made me love teaching English to speakers of other languages even more, knowing that learning English will be very helpful for them in their everyday lives. I have also taught English Language Arts to sixth and seventh graders at Saghalie Middle School in Federal Way School District, where I had 25-30 students in each class varying in reading levels from second grade to 12th grade, including ESL students and native speakers of English. This experience taught me how to differentiate my lessons to help the struggling students while still challenging and engaging the higher level students. I also helped organize an English Club in Russia for college students and loved working with this age group, where I was able to focus on conversational English, as opposed to academic English. In addition, I had a two year experience of teaching English to grades four through eight in Mexico at a bilingual school where I learned to work with students one-on-one to help them improve their reading and writing skills. Prior to that, I worked at a private school at Slavic Christian Academy for four years, teaching all subjects to third and fourth grades to Russian and Ukrainian children, where I learned how to communicate well with parents regarding their students’ progress and to provide more one-on-one help after school hours for those who were struggling academically.

My long term experience in the field of education has taught me how to prepare quality lessons for various age groups and how to reach out to students at different levels. I have learned to care not only about teaching the curriculum, but also about each individual student’s progress in academics and its relevance to their personal goals.

I am an honest, dependable, hard-working, reliable, trustworthy, flexible and conscientious worker. I am also friendly and easy going when it comes to working with others or having fun. In my resume you will find additional information that summarizes my qualifications, education and experience. Please feel free to call me at XXX-4500 or email me at lana.XXX to set up an interview or if you need additional information. Thank you for consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Svetlana
