I originate from the suburbs near Chicago, IL. I graduated in May, 2014 from Point Loma Nazarene University with a B.A. in Communication with an emphasis on Public Address. In December 2014 I joined the sales oriented organization MarketSource and was part of their Target Mobile division. I spent a year driving around Illinois acting as a ‘floater’. I visited over twenty different Target stores selling for three carriers AT&T, Verizon and Sprint, as well as seven pre-paid carriers. I was knowledgeable in the function and use of over fifteen different cell phones, four tablet devices and a plethora of other electronic devices.
Becoming dissatisfied with my position with MarketSource, and its limited promotion options, I found an opportunity to teach students in South Korea with a program directed by Korea Nazarene University in Cheonan, South Korea in the winter of January, 2016. This organization certified me in TESOL/TEFL. It has been a great experience. During my time in Korea I have worked in the CGEC program (Cheonan Global Education Center) which is a program that focuses on camp styled classes with specific topics, e.g., going to the pharmacy, airport, bookstore… etc,. to elementary students. It was a fun, but challenging experience as that I worked with children who had extremely low english skills.
The skills used in both sales and teaching are transferable across many careers as that they are communication oriented. Whether it is a customer unsure about switching cellular carriers or a young South Korean student having patience, explaining complicated ideas in a simple way and giving a warm smile is paramount to having success.
I would like to thank you for your time and consideration. I hope, and believe, that we will be in communication in the immediate future.
