After completing my degree I was fortunate to be able to travel and experience different countries and cultures, before returning to embark on a career working in the Social Care sector in England. Throughout my career, I worked in various roles, often engaging with vulnerable adults and young people. I continued to travel and participate in different courses and activities to expand my life experiences.
I enjoy experiencing different cultures and meeting new people. As a native English speaker, I was often approached by locals who wanted to practice their English skills on me, or was asked to assist explaining a language point. My wish to expand on my passion for travel and desire to embark on a new career led me to apply to engage on a CELTA course.
I found the course both challenging and rewarding, I enjoyed learning about my own language and more importantly how to convey it to others within a classroom environment; I now feel empowered with the tools to begin my new career. My background in Social Care means that I am very client-focused and want to deliver the best service, which I can tailor to my students. I am eager to further my development as a teacher and am looking for a school where I can implement the skills acquired on the CELTA, learn new techniques and take on new challenges.

April 2002 – May 2017 Employed in the Social Care sector in England
I worked as a Training Assistant in a Secure Training Centre, managing and ‘key working’ challenging Young Offenders serving custodial sentences; within the prison service we promoted education in multiple formats to young people who, in some circumstances, had been out of main stream education for a number of years.
In 2005 I started working for charitable organisations, engaging with both young people and adults who were either homeless or threatened with homelessness. I managed a Day Centre, a Homeless Intervention Team and accommodation units for both Coventry Cyrenians and St Basil’s. I moved to work as a Project Manager in a Therapeutic Children’s Home and another designed to prepare young people for leaving care, before working as a Coordinator at a Family Contact Centre. Within all these working environments, education and life-skills were an important factor; therefore I adopted a multi-faceted approach to education.
I worked part-time as an assistant youth worker, engaging young people in meaningful activities and promoting community cohesion. I also gained teaching experience working as a Cover Supervisor in secondary schools for three months before leaving the UK. My previous work experience was varied; I worked in local hospitals as a receptionist and administrator. Whilst studying I was employed on a part-time basis as a pool lifeguard, and domestic assistant. During my time abroad I worked as a paralegal in Australia and a clinic coordinator in Auckland General Hospital, New Zealand.
