Dear Hiring Manager,

I am a native speaking, qualified EFL teacher from Australia with experience working as a foreign English teacher in a Thai public school and as an online English tutor. From these experiences I have developed my teaching technique, learned to manage a classroom efficiently and proven my ability to create and plan curriculums and lessons alike. In the past, I have proven myself to be an effective teacher, a conscientious employee and a quick learner. I have had a long interest in Korea and am currently learning Korean. Therefore, I would like to work as an English teacher in Korea as it combines my love for teaching with my interest in Korea. For these reasons, I would like to apply for the position of foreign English teacher.
I am eager to work as a part of your team so I can share my love of languages and learning with students in Korea. I believe my friendly nature coupled with my strong work ethic, material development experience and my refined teaching skills make me an ideal candidate for this position. Through my studies, combined with my experience, I would bring the following to your team:
• Six months experience working in a Thai public school and a year in total teaching English as a second language. Through my varied experiences I have taught young children to adults, one on one to classes as large as 40 students, beginner to advanced, and online and in person. I have created curriculums and planned lessons but have also taught from an existing curriculum. This wide range of teaching experiences has allowed me to rapidly develop my teaching skills and I am confident in my capacity to teach in all situations.
• High quality and well regarded qualifications. I possess a Bachelor of Social Science from the University of Queensland – which is a world class institution consistently ranked in the world’s top 100 universities. I also possess a 120 hour in class TEFL certification from SEE TEFL in Thailand – the most highly accredited, licensed and endorsed TEFL institute in Thailand.
• A positive teaching philosophy focusing on encouragement, praise and inspiration to motivate students.
• Understanding of a second language learner’s struggles and a strong desire to fully integrate into Korean society. I have been learning Korean for a few years now and from this experience I can empathise with my students about their struggles and I understand better what things they may have difficulty with. Furthermore, I understand the differences between Korean and English, thus I am able to better predict what my students will find hard. I hope I can also set a good example for them and inspire them through my own efforts learning another language.
• A strong desire to integrate myself into Korean society. When I worked in Thailand I very successfully integrated into the town I lived in, making many good friends and building strong connections. I believe I can do this even more in Korea. Through my Korean studies and past travels I have learnt a lot about Korea and look forward to fully immersing myself into the culture. This will help me connect better with my students, with my colleagues and the broader community.
• Energy, passion and the capacity for hard work.
I would greatly value the opportunity to work for your school and help grow and nurture its student base. Thank you for the opportunity to apply for this position and I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

Louise
